Instructions Fob & Recharge Firmware

Here is how to update the firmware on your Flashiibo v2 (Fob or Recharge).

Finding Out Current On-Device Firmware Version

  • You need an Android or Bluetooth enabled PC / Mac
  • Visit https://tools.flashiibo.com using latest version of Google Chrome
  • Connect your device and the firmware version will show up

Update Using Android or iPhone / iPad / Apple Silicon Mac

  1. Make sure you have a Fob or Recharge v2 instead of v1. Here’s how to find out
    • The v2 has a 4-note startup tune. It also beeps and flashes the blue light X times when you press the button. X can be 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, depending which slot you are on.
    • The v1 only beeps once when the button is pressed. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do a firmware upgrade on v1 fobs.
  2. Download the latest firmware below.
  3. Download nRF Device Firmware Update app for Android or iPhone / iPad / Apple Silicon Mac
  4. Open the downloaded app (named DFU), and select the downloaded firmware.
  5. When the DFU app asks for Bluetooth permission, make sure you grant it.
  6. Keep Flashiibo Recharge charged or make sure you have enough battery in Flashiibo Fob.
  7. Enter DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode by holding the button for about 6 to 7 seconds.
    • At 2 second mark you will hear the tone for Tag UID regen; do NOT let go.
    • Keep holding and you will see both lights turn on with a long beep. Once the beep starts, you can release the button.
    • 2 seconds after the beep, lights are turned off and you are now in DFU mode.
  8. Make sure the Phone you use to perform the update is close to Flashiibo being updated, within a foot to ensure a stable connection.
  9. On your Android or iPhone, choose device “Flashiibo DFU”, and then tap Upload.
  10. Wait for the upload to finish. Do NOT turn off your phone or interrupt the process.

Using Windows

Firmware update on Windows isn’t officially supported, but you could try nRF-Connect-for-Desktop.
